Song #3 - Sometimes

Let me introduce you to 5 minutes of pure repetition! Its the 3rd song and it’s called : Sometimes. Unfortunately, its definitely not as good as the last one, but it has potential to stick in your head with the number of times it repeats the chorus pattern! I wanted to write another dancy-rock type of song but nothing good came out, and after a few days i only had ideas for a ballad, so here it is….
The other thing is because it took a lot of time to come out with the song, i didnt have much time to spend on the recording (plus the old bi… errr… lady downstairs started hitting on her ceiling at 9pm cause it seems its bedtime at this hour… pfff) so yeah i missed a few notes here and there, i didnt have time to do it better… and it distorts at some places and make some weird noises but its part of the adventure!
Next song, I promise you more rock n roll, but for now take it easy and listen to Sometimes!
What I like about it:
Well, at first i really hated this song and was pretty bummed out at the idea of having to put this up, but after adding the harmonies, i think its not too bad, the chorus rocks you softly (rock in a rocking chair kind of way)
What I’m not so sure:
I think the verse feels a bit slow, and then the chorus is not at all what i was aiming for… basically im not too thrilled with the whole song in general, but i guess you need some slow songs for the hard ones to have a reference point
Thanks again to every one who commented on the previous song, i listen to everything, but its possible that it will take a few songs before you can see your idea applied….. Anyways, its really great that a lot of people are interested to share their opinion, so what do you like in this one and what should we try on it to improve it?

Première écoute : j’étais pas convaincue. Deuxième écoute quelques heures plus tard : mmm, c’est pas si mal finalement. J’aime bien la voix du couplet et l’effet que tu y a mis (je l’sais habituellement, j’aime pas ça quand tu mets des effets, mais là ça fit vraiment)… et je pense même que j’aimerais ça entendre ce que ça peut donner avec un peu plus d’effet! J’aime bien le pré-refrain qui semble monté vers quelque chose, mais le refrain… c’est là que j’accroche mal. Je changerais peut-être la phrase la troisième fois que tu répètes la ligne du refrain. Malheureusement, je n’ai pas encore de suggestions qui me viennent en tête (je vais y réfléchir), mais me semble que ça donnerait moins l’impression que tu as manqué d’inspiration. Ça ajouterait juste une petite touche subtile plus travaillée… Mais dans l’ensemble, plus je l’écoute, plus je l’aime. Je l’ai même fredonné toute la journée.
Je trouve que c’est une bonne chanson. c’est ma deuxième préférée. mais là, je trouve que tes chansons sont trop feeling. il est temps d’écrire des chansons avec plus d’humour. ce que j’aime de cette chanson c’est qu’on peut la chanté mais que tu es juste un ti peu meilleur que nous mais pas trop. fake ca fais qu’on apprécie plus ta voix mais en même temps ça nous donne un challenge réalisable soit de chanté la toune comme du monde. ce que j’aime moins c’est que c’est encore une chanson sérieuse (d’amour!?). tu es un mec rempli d’humour (caustique des fois) pis jai pas entendu cet aspect de toi dans tes chansons encore. je te donne un défi: écrit une chanson en canon à au moins trois voix.

Just kidding! Believe it or not, I think I like this one best. Mainly because it doesn’t sound too much like anything else out there already. Sure it’s a simple ballad, but your lucky you’ve got a very distinctive voice. Keep it up James Blunt!
ouais marie, je suis pas mal daccord sur le fait que j’aimais bien le couplet et prechorus mais c’est vrai que l’énergie retombe un peu pour le chorus, c’est un peu comme ma 1ere toune, j’aime bien le chorus séparément mais je suis pas sur que ca fit pour le reste de la toune

mais ouais c’est vrai que j’aime bien être un peu sarcastique de temps en temps, je vais tenter quelque chose éventuellement!! et ton défi du canon sort vraiment de nulle part!! haha
vinh im glad you like it, and you have a point for the uniqueness.. but we also have to make sure that it appeals to a lot of people, since the goal of this blog is to get 1-2 potential radio hits… but i guess we need to find how to put this uniqueness in something radio-friendly

J’aime bien la facon que ca commence, c’est tranquille pis apres ya le “is it you, is it me …. etc” qui est plus rapide. on dirais qu’apres quand on tombe dans le “sometimes” c’est soit peu lent ou peut-etre que ca manque un peu d’énergie. Surtout que yé répété plusieurs fois et ya les ouhhh après, donc ton image de la chaise berçante est bonne mais moi j’y donnerais des plus gros swings.
After many listening, I love that song more and more. It was surely about the conditions when recording, but I found you begin the song with solid et precise voice and it’s sound a more tired voice at the end. Also, may be the song could be a bit shorter. Finally, for the end, at the opposite off now I would add more back vocal and more instrument to finish. Definitely, a song to consider at the end of project.

I listen it again and again and again and I simply love it! I know, my comments at the beginning were not super fantastic and I can’t remember why I was not sure to love it… But this song find a place in my head and now, I just sing it everyday!
