This week has not been too good for me, i still have a cold and i can’t sing as freely because of it, plus i’ve been really busy and my laptop died on me wednesday, i lost everything on it and i don’t know when it will be repaired… Since I use it a lot in the process of writing, i only managed to write a very crappy song this week. Now i started recording with my friend’s computer this morning, but I decided the song sucked too much and instead I’m gonna spend the rest of the day starting the song for next week…

So I put a replacement song, I wrote this one in May, some people have already heard it but I’m sure a lot of you haven’t.

What I like about it:

It was a really heartfelt song at the time, and even though it didnt follow some songwriting rules that i learned this summer, i still enjoy listening to it from time to time

What I’m not so sure:

We don’t hear the words clearly enough, the chorus is too wordy

Alright I hope i get my laptop soon and I can post a killer brand new song next week!

Lyrics

Your Safety Net

She's the girl that will climb the heights
See! it's the one with the deadly smile
For your life, avoid eye contact!
She'll get your heart before you can react

Always burning brighter than the stars
That she wears as a reminder to us all
Though we can see her glowing from afar
She's just as unreachable as they are

CHORUS
I made you laugh
I'll make you scream
I'll spin you around
And off the ground
Then I will catch you in my arms
But please forget
Your safety net
And the rope that prevents you from getting hurt and feeling a thing

Whenever she rubs her skin on your skin
You feel the Mexican sun shining in
Then when she turns her eyes away from you
You won't believe the sky was ever blue

I let go of my rope a while ago
I jumped head first but I still don't know
If she will show me how to fly above
Or If i'll crack my skull down on the floor

And if it helps, I will whisper
I love yous in the language you prefer
And if it means, i have to wait
A month, a year, or whatever it takes
I promise if I don't go insane
Ill be there for you just the same
I promise if I don't go insane
Ill be there for you just the same

  1. Sisi Lili Said,

    Salut Louis

c’est drôle il y a d’autres instruments je suis plus habituée à ça…. c’est cute comme chanson. Peut-être que je vais avoir des commentaires plus pertinents la semaine prochaine.
    prompt rétablissement!

  2. François Lachapelle Said,

    J’adore la finale

  3. Marie-J. Said,

Really good song. With your new stronger voice, I think that could probably sound more intense. The arrangements with the drums and the keyboard are just perfect. I really, really love the keyboard that brings us to the chorus, the melody of the chorus sounds really good and I like the end too. I’m waiting for the next killer one!

  4. JP Said,

A classic one. Like Marie-J said, the piano line introduce the chorus very well. The song is mature and don’t need a lot of improvement to be ready for final mix down.
